KateM left the room (signed off).

EBobB joined the room.

NergizK: Hı all

EBobB: G'morning.

VanceS: Hi Nergiz, hi eBobo

MaruD: sleepy

EBobB: Hi Vance.

MaruD: Hi Nergiz!

MaruD: Hi Ebob

VanceS: early in Mexico?

EBobB: Say Vance, do you mind if I post a link to your Multiliteracy stuff for a talk I am doing.

NergizK: Maru, youmade it.

MaruD: early for me on Sunday 7:08 AM

VanceS: which place in Mexico?

EBobB: Same here Maru, but I have already been outside looking at all the Hibiscus blooming in my yard.

MaruD: I am not usually awake at this hour but something woke me up and I could not get back to sleep then I remembered the sessions and rushed to the PC :-)

VanceS: wonderful\

VanceS: you are in the right place

NergizK: sorry for typos. I am on a Turkısh keyboard

EBobB: They are just beginning for the season.

KateM joined the room.

NergizK: Great Maru!

EBobB: Do Turkish keyboards make more typos....

NergizK: he he

KateM left the room.

MaruD: yes I am glad I made it, i usually follow your sessions because Nergiz send me the tanscript every week (Thanks Nergiz!)

NergizK: No but I do because the layout is dıfferen

VanceS: Is anyone else in this room here for webheads?

EBobB: I was just kidding.

NergizK: you are most welcome Maru

MaruD: I know dear, it is a wonderful feeling, Thanks

NergizK: I know Bob

EBobB: Webheads? Who's that?

VanceS: I don't know, seems all these people who come at this time keep talking about Webheads

EBobB: Oh, I thought it said "WETheads."

MaruD Wonders who they might be

VanceS: 've been meaning to check them out one of these days

EBobB: Like right out of the shower.

EBobB: Maybe s omeday one of them will admit to being one, and explain it all.

VanceS: twitter pages are working again

EBobB: I haven't twittered all week.

VanceS: this morning you couldn't get pages 2, 3 etc

MaruD: I did not notice that it was not working

EBobB: Woops I just twittered.

VanceS: hey bob, I want to restore a course to my moodle server

EBobB: Yes.

VanceS: but my moodle server says there is a 2 mb upload limit

VanceS: I've changed that in two places

VanceS: in the php.ini file at my host

EBobB: You will have to get Admin to reset the limit.

VanceS: and in the moodle, both to 100 mb

EBobB: \But I am a bit surprised that you have passed that limit.

MaruD: I use twhirl and did not notice anything wrong

VanceS: now my moodle says it will allow 100 mb upldoads

VanceS: but it still won't take a 70 mb one

VanceS: media files I guess

EBobB: Hmmmm....maybe.

NergizK: Didn't know there was a limit in Moodle

VanceS: my admin is bluehost

VanceS: I went on the live chat with them

EBobB: There are so many versions out now, the best bet is to go to the Moodle.doc pages and look up the answer for the version you are using.

LeticiaE joined the room.

EBobB: Oh, I am now on Blue host too.

MaruD: Hi Leticia!

EBobB: R U Satisfied with them.

VanceS: they talked me through installing a php.ini file to my web and showed me how to change the upload limit to 100 mb

VanceS: don't know yet if I'm happy or not

EBobB: Thats more than I could get from my old provider.

VanceS: are you happy with them?

LeticiaE: Good Morning(:

EBobB: I am in the process of movingn all my stuff over.

VanceS: good morning Leticia

NergizK: hi Letıcıa

VanceS: well they do have live chat and have seemed helpful

EBobB: I am having to do it a piece at a time b ecause they would never help me find the widget buried to do the phishing.

EBobB: So I am inspecting each document as I move it.

EBobB: Very slow, but taking care of the problem.

VanceS: inspecting for what? phishing?

EBobB: and it allows me to make some changes that needed to be made anyway.

ClaireB joined the room.

EBobB: My site got closed because some hacker was using it to phish.

ThomasLev joined the room.

EBobB: It was pretending to be some Bank in Italy, and grabbing account numbers.

ThomasLev: hello!

NergizK: hi Thomas

ClaireB: hi guys

ClaireB hugs all

EBobB: It appears it was taken offlilne before anything happened.

LeticiaE: Hi Thomas

ThomasLev: hugs returned

NergizK: How did you find out Bob?

NergizK: Hi Claire

MaruD: There are still problems twhirl failed to send an update

EBobB: My provider notified me that they were taking me off line. and sent me a long list of things to do.

LeticiaE: I have a question

NergizK: Oh, what a horror.

EBobB: Trouble is, I did those things best I could and I still couldnt get them to put me back online.

EBobB: They have been far less than helpful.

ClaireB: what was the issue?

EBobB: That was why I switched to BlueHost.

ThomasLev: fire away Leticia

EBobB: The issue was probably a PHP fille that was left in the on position, if I understand it correctly.

EBobB: Claire, do you know much about PHP.

ClaireB: no, sorry

EBobB: Anyway, now I am trying to resurrect a website, set up a parcel of virtual space I purchased on SL, do a workshop and prepare for fall on Knowplace.

ClaireB: just that it is used to interact with databases

NergizK: Leticia, you wanted to ask a question

LeticiaE: Thanks I feel a little bit lost in your conversation. Here it is, ther is a posibility that I will be teaching math and science this up coming year. I need to really upgrade my room to accomodate the students.

EBobB: Yea, I couldn't really find manyy webhead that knew that much.\

MaruD: Congrats on your purchase EBobE!

EBobB: I hope. I am subletting from a professor in Kansas, and he has b een most kind to walk me through things.

NergizK: Oh, you have land in SL?

MaruD: what would you like to do Leticia? Add files? Change the view?

EBobB: I have just gotten started.

NergizK: What do you want to use it for Bob?

NinaAL greets everyone, was away from pc for some time.

EBobB: Nergiz, he owns a huge block and wanted renters who wanted to do work of an educational nature. It was a way for him to guarantee what kind of neighbors he got.

NergizK: Hi Nina

NergizK: İ see

EBobB: I will likely do work shops there.

ThomasLev: Hi Nina

LeticiaE: Yes that is exactly what I would like to do, I also want to make sure that it is safe and the student don't wander off into something else while I am instructing them.

EBobB: My goal is to use it like Elluminate, eventually.\

NinaAL: Hi Nergiz! Nice to see you and all here. I was alone here half an hour ago.

NergizK: So, for meetıngs

EBobB: Well, my ideal students would be adults and there is nothing there to wander off to to get into trouble.

MaruD: Hi again Nina! The cities I find are Kyiv and L'viv which one does is have your timezone?

EBobB: So far, everything is music and music appreciation related.

VanceS: hi all, had to leave keyboard a minute

EBobB: I will continue that concept some.

NinaAL: Hi Clair! Thomas,

NinaAL: Hi Vance!

ClaireB: hi vance

MaruD: Hi Thomas and Clair

EBobB: ...and besides I thought it was a good way to learn SL>

VanceS . o O ( reading transcript )

NergizK: Yes

NergizK: learnıng by doıng

NinaAL: I wish I could learn SL, tried many times, but the poor connection ..

EBobB: Right.

MaruD: I crash a lot Nina but it is worth

EBobB: Yes, connection is a problem, but that will change over time.

NinaAL: I know, I know

NergizK: I hope so

MaruD: I have a good connection, what I have is a limited PC

NergizK: But for now, İ wıll plan an alternative locatıon

MaruD: When will you travel to get your visa to Japan Nina?

NergizK: for my lessons

EBobB: I am very interested in the potential for accessing SL over the new "Smart Phones"\

NinaAL: Perhaps on Tuesday

NergizK: SL on a small screen?

MaruD happy for Elderbob and his plans

EBobB: Nergiz, I have used so meany different applications that I hardly ever know where I am.

NergizK ıs smilıng

SusanR joined the room.

ThomasLev: Hi Susan

NinaAL: HI Susan!

MaruD: Hi Susan!

EBobB: As soon as I get the portal up for my new website, Ill let everyone know, and you can come and visit some of the places I have set up.

NergizK: Hi Susan

NergizK: Great!

SusanR waves from humid, muggy hot, Ottawa, Ontario

MaruD: thanks for your generous offer Elderbob

VanceS: do americans need visas for Japan?

ClaireB: no

EBobB: Not really generous....just giving back for all that has been given me here.

NinaAL: Is it hot in Ottawa?

VanceS is just reaching point where he is coming to grips with summer

MaruD smiles

VanceS: thanks claire

EBobB: \Hi Susan, what is your predicted Temp today.

VanceS: that's a relief

ClaireB: vance, us citizens get 60 days or something automatically

VanceS: It seems my son will be in Seoul, that helps in making plans

EBobB: Only 93 F in Texas, and possible showers.

ClaireB: dusty?

VanceS: yeah, got a job there apparently

NinaAL: You are lucky, Claire.

EBobB: Congrats to Dusty.

VanceS: when I went to Korea before, I had to get a visa first

SusanR: The predicted temp is 30 or 31 degrees celcius

NinaAL: Vance, do you have to get visa?

SusanR: elderbob

ClaireB: in pittsburgh the high today will be 91 (23 C)

EBobB: Yes?

ClaireB: why lucky, nina?

VanceS: not sure these days

EBobB: Oh, Claire, we can sweat together.

ThomasLev: I lived in Seoul 1986-88

ClaireB: yes very humid here

NinaAL: no need to get visa. I have to travel to Kiev for one.

NinaTL joined the room.

SusanR: yesterday was 31.4 C

NinaAL: what is the weather in Jp in august?

EBobB: I am going to go out soon, this morning to work in the gardens.

LeticiaE: I guess I will stop in later to ask about my room. Bye Leticia waves from Bronx, Ny where there is a heat wave and its a humid 95.

NinaTL: Good morning/afternooneverybody!

NinaAL: Hi Nina!

EBobB: While it is relatively cool.

VanceS: what do you think Thomas, do I need a visa to visit Korea?

ClaireB: yeah, well for some countries we need them. it's particularly hard for americans to get visas for brazil right now

NinaTL: Privyet, Ninochka

VanceS: why claire?

NergizK: Hi Nina

LeticiaE left the room.

NinaAL waves to Leticia bye

ThomasLev: 20 yrs ago, you needed a visa

VanceS: hi nina

NinaTL: Who is Leticia?

NinaTL: Hi Vance

ThomasLev: Hi Nina!

ClaireB: U.S. passport holders may enter the Republic of Korea without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days for tourism or transit to another country.

ThomasLev: hmm

ClaireB: from state dept website

NinaAL: Privet Ninochka, rada tebia videt.

EBobB: Then it takes less to get into to Korea, than it does to go to Mexico.

NinaTL: It has been a LONG time Nina!

VanceS: now why didn't I think to just check the Internet??

NinaTL: LOL Vance

ClaireB: as to brazil, they follow a strict policy of reciprocity. if a country hassles brazilains, they hassle citizens of htat country. i don't blame them

EBobB: I think I will just confine my travels to the virtual world.

ClaireB: hi nina

ThomasLev: guess I never went there to just pass through

VanceS: but what is the problem with Brazil?

NinaTL: Do we hassle Brazilians?

NinaTL: Hi Claire

ClaireB: i went to google and typed in us citizens and visa a korea

VanceS: what if you have ginga, can you get in?

EBobB: My grandson has tomatos today.

ClaireB: no tomatoes because we're glad to see you here, leanne

LeanneMM: I think I am finally getting into the swing of things and am not quite so uptight anymore

NinaTL: Many of us started out that way

EBobB: He is two, so I let him plant his own small tomatoes.

NinaTL: That's great

SusanR: What's it like teaching down there?

SusanR: Leanne

LeanneMM . o O ( it was tomatoes about the Berlitz )

EBobB: He checks them every day and eats them straight off the plant.

ClaireB: good training for a kid, ebob

VanceS: I've been to Oaxaca a couple of times, long ago, and loved it

ClaireB: mexico is cool

LeanneMM: well, Susan, I have nothing to compare it to, really, this is my first teaching job

NinaTL: probably not now haha

EBobB: I love it and he loves it....we also have squash and corn for him. and great big sunflowers.

NinaTL: Leanne when I was in your beautiful office I didn't see a link to your Ventana Vistas blog

EBobB: ...and speaking of vegetables, I promised myself, I would get out early and get rid of some nasty weeds this morning, so I had better go before it gets hot.

MaruD thanks Nagora and feels happy having a clock with her time zone

LeanneMM: The pay is not great, but I love the director, the supervisors are great and the other teachers are really helpful and friendly

EBobB: Everyone have a great day.

ClaireB: leanne, it sounds like a great experience for a first teaching job

VanceS: thanks Maru, is it in the mountains?

NinaTL: I think you should, why not?

MaruD agrees with Claire

NinaTL: Or are you using the office with students and don't want them to see it?

LeanneMM: I am thankful Berlitz provides training and a really detailed teaching manual..

MaruD: it is in a Valley, the highest city in Mexico

LeanneMM: but gives teachers leeway in how to teach

VanceS: Toluca is higher than Cuernavaca? Must be cool up there ...

NergizK: Maru you mıght find fınd some of us knockıng at your door :)

NinaTL: That's the perfect job, Leanne: structure with flexibility

MaruD: I have worked for Berlits and I like their system and training

MaruD: Berlitz, sorry

LeanneMM: I think I remember you from BaW 2006, right, Maru?

NinaAL agrees with Nina

MaruD: I hope to have many of you knocking at my door

NinaTL: Maru, how is the teen online course going? I am sorry but I am not pro-active there

NergizK: İ have no direct exerıence with Berlitz but I don;t lıke fıxed or closed systems

MaruD: It is alrigh Nina, this week we will have more students from Ronald's Spanish class

NinaAL: I will someday, Maru.

NergizK: sorry for the typos... warned you

NinaTL: I didn't know Ronaldo taught Spanish

SusanR: sound adventureous,Leanne

VanceS: I think if you want to learn a language and have the money, Berlitz might work, do you think?

NinaAL: Neither me.

NinaTL: Berlitz must be doing something right to have lasted so long

LeanneMM: I've been psyching myself up for this adventure for years, now it is finally coming true

MaruD: He is Ronald and teaches at the University of Wisconsin

NinaTL smiles

NinaTL: Oh, a different Ronaldo

MaruD happy for Leanne

LeanneMM: Berlitz is celebrating 130 years this year

ClaireB: leanne, is it everything that you hoped it would be?

SusanR: sound adventureous, Leanne

NinaTL: Sorry, now that I look more carefully I see you did not type Ronaldo at all!

NergizK: Leanne, it ıs defiitely worth the experience

MaruD: yes, a different Ronald

LeanneMM: pretty much, Claire

NinaTL blushes

NinaAL: only 130?

NinaTL: My eyes are not functioning well yet this morning

LeanneMM: yeah, I think so, 130

NinaTL: That's unheard of for a language school, I think

MaruD: I hope you a re happy in oaxaca Leanne, it is a beautiful place

NinaTL: How far is Oaxaca from Toluca?

DennisOl joined the room.

NinaTL hugs Dennis

ClaireB: hi dennis

DennisOl: Great idea, Nina.

LeanneMM: here's how settled we are in the Oaxaca TP: we got cable installed last week, so now have 63 tv channels and 24/7 internet!

MaruD: Your proposal sounds great Nina

LeanneMM: yes, Nina, and hope to be back here from time to tiime

DennisOl: I hope so, too, Leanne.

NinaTL: There are only a couple of webheads in the WATESOL area so there are a lot of people waiting to be introduced to this great CoP

DennisOl: Sounds like a good reason to do the presentation, Nina.

VanceS: congrats Leanne, so we can find you hear more often

MaruD: Could you tell me Nina what is WATESOL?

NinaTL: Washington Area TESOL affiliate, Maru

NinaAL: Not many TESOLers in Ukraine are aware either.

MaruD: Thanks

NinaAL: yep

NinaAL: this time

MaruD did it again dear dennis

NergizK: what do mean by travellıng among pages Maru?

LeanneMM: I would like to know if anyone here has used the Skyline series from MacMillan; we are thinking about getting it for our teen classes

DennisOl: I've always wondered if Rick Steves' hair is real. It looks real in the Wikipedia photo, but it often looks like a wig on TV.

MaruD: You move and check pages while reading the chat Nergiz, i guess most of you do but I cannot do it yet

NinaAL: to Nina: does she like to read diaries of famour/ well-knownppl.

NinaTL: She likes historical fiction, and is interested in royalty

MaruD: I am not a multitasker yet

NinaAL: I see, . The young here don't like to read hisorical fiction.

MichaelAC: ???

NinaTL: I love the shot of breakfast in a village in Steves' slideshow--so colorful!

NinaAL: Yes, history awakes inner thought.

NinaTL: I am intrigues by the statement that Iranian men sit to urinate because of religion

NinaTL: (from Rick Steves' slideshow)

DennisOl: My maternal grandmother's family has a tenuous connection to European royal familes--including someone from Kievan Rus.

ClaireB: yes, i was intrigued too

MichaelAC: Again, ?????

NinaTL: http://www.ricksteves.com/blog/iran_slideshow_10.htm

ClaireB: dennis, we are impressed

NinaTL: Sorry Mike for leaving you out in the cold

MichaelAC: Religion is responsible for so much dum behaviour.

MichaelAC: It's fine Nina

ClaireB: the men's room shot is here: http://www.ricksteves.com/blog/iran_slideshow_9.htm

DennisOl: Well, it's a very tenuous connection, Claire.

MichaelAC: I'll catch up eventually

VanceS: Hey Michael

MichaelAC: Howdy V!

NergizK: Michael may be we should fırst learn about the reasons before jumıng to conclusıons

MaruD: Nina, does Baltimore has your same time zone? i am seting my webheads time zones wall

NinaTL: Yes, Maru, we are about 1 hour from Baltimore

ClaireB agrees with nergiz

NinaTL: Also New York and Boston

NinaTL: So nergiz, can you explain the injunction about urinating in a seated psoition? I am intrigued because that is very unusal here

NinaTL: unusual

MaruD lost at the behaviour issue

LeanneMM repeats her question that may have gotten lost in an Iranian men's room: I would like to know if anyone here has used the Skyline series from Macmillan; we are thinking of getting it for our teen classes

NinaAL: bfn, have to leave, it was nice to see you all here, till next time

NinaTL: I love the photo of the Iranian schoolgirls adjusting their headscarves

RitaZ left the room (signed off).

MaruD: Bye Nagora, Have a nice day

LeanneMM hugs Rita

RitaZ joined the room.

ThomasLev: Hi Rita

LeanneMM hugs Rita again

NergizK: I can only assume that ıt has sometıng to do wıth cleanlıness (not sayıng that the other way ıt ıs not clean) but I now many women ın Germany do ask men to use theır toılet whıle sıttıng for that same reason

MaruD welcomes Rita

LeanneMM: hola Rita!

VanceS: I think the connection with religion and urination is jumping to conclusions

NergizK: but I guess that ıs off toic :)

NergizK: topic

RitaZ: hola, Leanne! que lindo verte aqui!

NinaAL left the room (signed off).

VanceS: Hi Rita

ClaireB hugs rita

LeanneMM: finally I have internet connection to the bus, Rita, so don't have to depend on internet cafes, which aren't open at 7 am Sundays

RitaZ: Hi, Vance..., religion and urination...? (would never find the connection on my own!!!)

NinaTL: So Rita, tell us about the whole interview project and how it has come out. Are the interviews posted yet?

MichaelAC smiles at Rita

ClaireB: leanne, how is your spanish?

RitaZ: hi, Mike dear!

MichaelAC: Internet connection to the bus? What do you mean Leanne?

LeanneMM: good and getting better, I'd say, Claire

ClaireB: fantastico

RitaZ: Im editing the recordings a bit..., Nina, and putting them up as theyre readt..., will let you know ;-)

NergizK: There was Internet connecton on the bus here too

LeanneMM: we're living in the Oaxaca Trailer Park now Michael, I'm working at the local Berlitz, and we signed up for cable last week, so have TV and internet

MichaelAC: Aha!

MichaelAC: Excellent

RitaZ: thats so cool, Leanne!

RitaZ: whats Oaxaca like, Leanne?

DennisOl: Rita! Muchos Abrazos!

MaruD smiles

RitaZ: mas abrazos para ti, querido amigo Dennis!

DennisOl blushes

MaruD: Can you ell me a bit about your project Rita?

DennisOl and smiles

DennisOl smiles, too

RitaZ: yes, Maru, I have 20 stds this year, and I wanted them to interview some Webheads

LeanneMM: I like it, Rita, it's not such a big city, nestled in a wide valley with mountains all around. It's greening up with the summer rains, the weather is nice and moderate otherwise, not hot and humid, yet tropical enough to know we're not in Canada anymore!

VanceS: are you putting the recordings online?

RitaZ: so I made them work in pairs on a different country, which they chose themselves after my putting up some choices on the borad

MaruD: Oh yes! You have set Glogs for that. i did not know which project you were talking about.

DennisOl: I thoroughly enjoyed the interview, Rita.

MaruD blushes

RitaZ: yeah, Vance, yours is there already, plus 3 more, not all yet

BjB joined the room.

DennisOl: Hi, BJ.

ThomasLev: Hi BJ

MaruD: Hi Bee

NergizK: Hi BjB

BjB waves and hugs warmly

RitaZ: thank you, Dennis, they are all gems!

LeanneMM: Sorry Rita, were those the students you had online Friday?

LeanneMM: Hi BJ

DennisOl: Yes, I'm sure they are.

RitaZ: yes, Leanne!

NinaTL: Hi BJ!

ClaireB hugs bj

RitaZ: Sus Nyrop had a problem, we couldnt contact her and my stds were waiting!

DennisOl: I haven't looked for recordings of the interviews, but I will.

RitaZ: theyr are in our wiki pages

DennisOl: I thought so.

LeanneMM: I didn't realize you had something formal going on, just thought they wanted to chat

RitaZ: http://caeb2008.pbwiki.com/

MaruD: thanks for the link Rita

DennisOl: I'll check them out later. I've been behind in a lot of things recently.

NergizK: It stopped raining. I'm off to do some sight-seeing with my nephews as guides.

NergizK: by everybody

RitaZ: no problem, Leanne, they said they didnt want to interrupt your talk with your dad, and that was a good decision :-)

NergizK: bye

ThomasLev: cu Nergiz

LeanneMM: nice to meet you Nergiz, see you

BjB waves bye to Nergiz

MichaelAC: Bye Nergi z - happy sight-seeing

ClaireB: bye nergiz

NinaTL: Bye Nergiz

VanceS: bye

NergizK: Nice to meet you too Leanne

RitaZ hugs BJ

MaruD: Bye Nergiz,

NergizK: Thanks Mıcheal

VanceS: hi bj

RitaZ: bye, Nergiz!

DelinC joined the room.

DennisOl: Take care, Nergiz!

LeanneMM: HI Delin

ThomasLev: Hi Delin

NergizK left the room (signed off).

DennisOl: Hi, Delin.

DelinC: Hug to U all!

RitaZ: hi, Delin!

NinaTL: Hi Delin

DelinC: What did you talk about?

MaruD: i have been following you using Nergiz's transcripts, she send them to me :-)

VanceS: I'm checking out the new blog http://caeb2008.pbwiki.com/

MaruD: Hi Delin

RitaZ: still under construction, Vance :-)

VanceS: and also the girl effect (posted by robert)

RitaZ: stds need to write their reports

RitaZ: on their respective pages

ClaireB: listening to vance's interview

VanceS: did anyone want to check out weblins

SusanR: yes

LeanneMM: I had a question earlier about Skyline from MacMillan, does anyone use that series?

RitaZ: no, Leanne

NinaTL: I don't, leanne, I teach adults anyway

ClaireB: rita, this is a great project

VanceS: not me Leanne, we homegrow all our stuff

RitaZ: thank you, Clari, Im planning to round it up with a presentation

DennisOl: I agree with Claire, Rita—and your students are doing a great job.

VanceS: readiing Moira's msg, but I think we'll need accts at weblins?

RitaZ: whats weblins...?

DelinC: where can listen Vamc

VanceS: weblins.com

RitaZ thanks Dennis :-)

DelinC: ok. thanks

SusanR . o O ( is curious about weblins )

DennisOl: http://www.weblin.com/home.php?room=en2

DennisOl: Oops. Wrong URL. Try this one:

DennisOl: http://weblins.com/

DennisOl: It's interesting that there's a Weblin.com and a Weblins.com .

SusanR: reminds me of SecondLife

VanceS: do we register our sites or can we all just visit a site together

RitaZ: who is the expert?

DelinC: so I get its website. How do I get in? Download now?

VanceS: I'll register and see what happens

SusanR: this AI (Artificial Intelligent search engine) site may be good for second language learners, Leanne

SusanR: http://ai.oddcast.com/aii/ammi/index2.php

DelinC left the room (signed off).

DelinC joined the room.

MaruD: My browser does not follow he links? Would it be the larger text I use?

ClaireB: what browser are you using?

MaruD: I cannot copy the links either. Explorer

BjB: Maru, go to the Actions menu in the top right of the chat and select Send to Pasteboard

DennisOl: The eyes are very strange at the oddcast site.

ClaireB: i use large text and can still follow the links

VanceS: you can send the transcript to pasteboard and copy / paste from there

BjB: you can copy the urls from the pasteboard

MaruD: thanks Bee!!

SusanR waves to Bj

ClaireB: bj is the expert

VanceS: taht's BJ

MaruD: There are now many links do I go to weblins?

RitaZ: BJ, have you tried weblins?

BjB: no, I haven't, Rita

SusanR . o O ( pasteboard is quite a handy tool )

NinaTL: is reading Rick Steve's Iran blogposts--fascinating

VanceS: I've activated my weblins acct

ClaireB: apparently this will be a tv show

VanceS: not sure what to do now

LeanneMM: Thanks Susan for that AI link. I had to use BJ's tip to get to it, and will check it out later

ClaireB: i'm glad that he is branching out and not doing just the same european cities

RitaZ: so what about weblins? (too lazy to explore it now..., cold Sunday morn...)

MichaelAC: cols Sunday night here Rita (from a fellow southern hemisphere resident!)

SusanR: weblins will be my Sunday project

MaruD no one at weblins

SusanR: will register later

DelinC: Vance, How can I try it? Weblin is like SL (Avata)?

RitaZ: feel like trying weblins, though, Mike...?

NinaTL: hot Sunday morning here

DelinC: how register?

VanceS: I don't know Delin, we are trying to figure it out

NinaTL: 98 degrees yesterday and today supposed to surpass that

MichaelAC: not at the moment -m I'm uploading to Flickr at the mo

DennisOl: Delin: Vance was referring to Weblins, not Weblin. The first URL that I posted was wrong.

ThomasLev: have to go- bye all

RitaZ: hmmm, more SL..., pass on that today...

LeanneMM: wow, Nina. That's warmer than Mexico!

LeanneMM: see you Tom

NinaTL: Bye Tom, have a nice week

MaruD: I have to go too

RitaZ: bye, Tom, enjoy your week!

MaruD: Have a nice Sunday

NinaTL: Yes, Washington is famous for its hot humid summers

DennisOl: Delin: This is the URL that Vance was referring to:

LeanneMM: I'm taking off too, hubby is rousing

DennisOl: http://weblins.com/

ThomasLev left the room (signed off).

VanceS: It's a simple site but doesn't seem to be clear what to do here

NinaTL: We had a very cool month of May and this weekend we are paying for that

RitaZ: bye, Leanne, will write soon!

MaruD left the room (signed off).

DelinC: Dennis. which one is right, weblins.com?

LeanneMM: OK Rita!

VanceS: actually, Moira was playing with weblin

DennisOl: Take care, Leanne!

LeanneMM: see you all again soon

SusanR: Thanks all. Gotta garden today before the heat hits!!

LeanneMM waves goodbye

DennisOl waves back

VanceS: bye Leanne

RitaZ waves bye back to Leanne

LeanneMM left the room (signed off).

SusanR left the room (signed off).

VanceS: this is the one she meant, I just downloaded it

BeyzaY joined the room.

NinaTL: Hi Beyza!

BeyzaY: Hi all,

DennisOl: I have to leave for a few minutes.

DelinC: Hi. BeyZa.

RitaZ: so its another virtual space like SL, Vance? with avatars and all?

ClaireB: hi beyza

DennisOl: But hi to Beyza before I go!

RitaZ: ; hugs dear Beyza

BeyzaY: thanks Dennis and rita

BeyzaY: beyza hugs everyone in the room

VanceS: Hi Beyza

VanceS: thanks for the hug (hugs back)

VanceS: installing weblin now

BeyzaY: what is/was our topic today?

RitaZ: several topics, as usual, now Vance is trying weblins.com, Beyza

BeyzaY: I was disconnected from the community for 2 weeks

VanceS: weblin is one of them

VanceS: why Beyza?

VanceS: holiday?

BeyzaY: no I had to grade lots of tasks and exams

BeyzaY: thank God everything is over

RitaZ: thanks for the interview, Beyza, my stds learnt so much!

MichaelAC: (Michael away for a bit)

ClaireB: bye guys- must go

NinaTL: Bye Claire

NinaTL: Have a nice week

RitaZ: bye, Clarita!

ClaireB left the room (signed off).

VanceS: I'm having trouble registering weblin

BeyzaY: sorry I was away

BeyzaY: u re always welcome Rita

RitaZ: thannks Beyza ;-)

BeyzaY: I'm always ready for such interviews

ChrisGst2 joined the room.

VanceS: This is really silly, everything here to log in, no place to register

RitaZ: hi, Chris

RitaZ: and how come Moira was playing there?

RitaZ: did she give you the url?

VanceS: the url is http://www.weblin.com

DelinC: however the url is not logged in?

ChrisGst2 left the room.

VanceS: yes, I can't see how to register

VanceS: I downloaded it

VanceS: forget password, but my email is not registered

VanceS: so .. ??

BeyzaY: so in order to use it ,we need to download the program right?

VanceS: I think so, it's a plugin to Firefox

ChrisGst2 joined the room.

RitaZ: Vance, I can see a Register link (Im not going to now, though) at the top roght of the page

BeyzaY: I don't have a firefox

VanceS: hmmm I can't see a register link

RitaZ: http://weblins.com/profile.php?mode=register&sid=9e725b234277f1977d70c36c26cf9039

DelinC: Firefox is not popular with all.

RitaZ: I used IE

VanceS: ahh, that's weblins, not weblin

VanceS: Maybe I'll try and re-start my browser

VanceS: brb

BeyzaY: I'm downloading the program

VanceS left the room (signed off).

Room: VirtualVance

VanceS joined the room.

VanceS: ok, there has been a change

VanceS: I now have an annoying little Vance avatar at the bottom of my browser

VanceS left the room.

Room: TI_Reception

VanceS joined the room.

RitaZ: welcome back, ance

VanceS: hi, I've got a Vance avatar at the bottom of my browser now

ChrisGst2 joined the room.

ChrisGst2 left the room.

VanceS: hmmm, has anyone else got that far?

RitaZ: nope, Vance, too much for a lazy Sunday morn :-(

DelinC: just not yet.

JeffC joined the room.

VanceS: I guess I'll have to check it with Moira

VanceS: Hi Jeff

RitaZ: hi, Jeff

DelinC: Hi, Jeff.

JeffC waves

VanceS: I just got an add friend popup

VanceS: I'm not sure I'm going to like this program

VanceS: I'm not that keen on my avatar

VanceS: it will need a community

RitaZ: better spend your energy somewhere else, Vance :-)

JeffC: what community? are you talking about 2nd life or something else?

VanceS: weblin

VanceS: aha beyza has arrived

VanceS: a community is starting to form

JeffC: weblin?

RitaZ: another kind of SL program, Jeff, called weblins

VanceS: called weblin

JeffC: url?

VanceS: weblins is something else

VanceS: http://www.weblin.com

RitaZ: Im leaving, guys, have a good week!

VanceS: I'm waiting for Beyza to say something

VanceS: she says HELLO

VanceS: this is exciting

VanceS: she's walking around on the screen

BeyzaY: yes

VanceS: how did he do that?

RitaZ hugs all and leaves

RitaZ left the room (signed off).

BeyzaY: hugs Rita

DelinC: so the weblins is just like SL.

VanceS: How can you walk beyza?

VanceS: oh, got it

VanceS: Here's what happened

VanceS: I'm logged on to Tapped In

BeyzaY: ı JUT MOVED

VanceS: and I've started Weblin

BeyzaY: the character with my mouse

VanceS: so I'm AT the TI website

JeffC: so it's a web companion... something that gives you a way to communicate with others regardless of the website you're on?

VanceS: and then beyza's avatar appeared

VanceS: so I knew she was at the site too

VanceS: so if you happen to have a weblin up

VanceS: you can see when other weblins arrive

BeyzaY: who else here has a weblin?

JeffC: not me

VanceS: now I have a note that beyza is online, she has added me as a friend

DelinC: I don't play it.

VanceS: to 'play' you need to get your weblin avatar

DelinC: I have something to do! Hope you play it with fun. bye!

DelinC left the room (signed off).

VanceS: I can see this might be pretty neat if you have a class of students who might visit the same site

VanceS: or sites

BeyzaY: which site_?

VanceS: well, suppose they are supposed to research something on the Internet

VanceS: so they'll all go off looking for sites

VanceS: if they each ran the weblin program

VanceS: then they'd appear simultaneiously occasionally on the same sites

VanceS: and they could maybe discuss the assignment

VanceS: or anything else

VanceS: I can see how a community could use this

BeyzaY: can they see what the other's are visiting

VanceS: if webheads got weblins

JeffC: it won't be acceptable in K-12...

VanceS: then they would see each other when they happened on the same site at the same time

JeffC: what's to stop others from outside the class from communicating with your students?

VanceS: it would not be acceptable in some K-12 classes, schools, or districts in the USA, but that's only a small part of the world

JeffC: i remember another program like this from a few years ago... don't remember its name though.

VanceS: nothing would stop that. I'll have to play with this and see how it works in practice

VanceS: we'll need to get more webheads in on it

VanceS: maybe it's mainly for adults

VanceS: but of course kids could sign up on their own, unless there were cyber police to stop them

BeyzaY: I need to leave now

BeyzaY: it was nice meeting allo f u

BeyzaY: have a great week

BeyzaY left the room (signed off).

VanceS: ok, thanks for helping me to see how this works

VanceS: well I feel I learned something cool just now

VanceS: one of those ineffable things

VanceS: I wonder if MIchael is still around

JeffC: He's been idle for 37 minutes Vance.

MichaelAC left the room (signed off).

JeffC: well... there he goes!

JeffC: if you type: /who ...you'll see who is connected and for how long.

JeffC: and /who here ...gives you info for those just in this room.

VanceS: oh, ok

VanceS: well I'm going to wander off

VanceS: hope things are ok with you

VanceS left the room (signed off).
